Bagdogra / NJP to Darjeeling
Our representative greets you at Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station and drives you up to Darjeeling — the Queen of the Hills. Check in to your hotel on arrival. The evening is free to soak in the mountain air, stroll The Mall and absorb the colonial ambiance of this tea-scented ridge town. Dinner and overnight in Darjeeling.
Darjeeling Sightseeing & Drive to Gangtok
Rise at 4:00 AM for the drive to Tiger Hill (2,590 m) — Darjeeling's most famous viewpoint — for the breathtaking sunrise over the snow-white peak of Kanchenjunga, the world's third-highest mountain. On the way back, visit the 19th-century Ghoom Monastery (home of the Maitreya Buddha) and the Batasia Loop, a spiral railway track and war memorial with sweeping views. After returning for breakfast, set out on the classic Darjeeling 7-point circuit — Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park (both closed Thursdays), Tenzing Norgay Rock, Tibetan Self-Help Refugee Centre (closed Sundays), Tea Garden outer view, Japanese Peace Pagoda and the Darjeeling Ropeway (ride ticket payable directly). Drive to Gangtok by road; check in on arrival. Dinner and overnight in Gangtok.
Tsomgo Lake Excursion (32 km from Gangtok)
Morning half-day excursion to Tsomgo Lake (also spelt Changu Lake) at 3,780 m — an oval glacial lake about 1 km long, 15 m deep and considered sacred by the Sikkimese people. In winter it freezes over; in summer its banks bloom with primulas and rhododendrons. Return to Gangtok in the afternoon; evening free for shopping at MG Marg and individual activities. Dinner and overnight in Gangtok.
